Established in 1972, the Moanalua High School is a public, co-educational school offering classes in grades 9 through 12. Located in Salt Lake in Honolulu, Hawaii, it is home to almost 2,000 students mostly of Filipino-American ancestry. It employs more than a hundred teachers with above 85% licensed.
Moanalua High School is known for a lot of distinctions and achievements in different aspects.
It has good academics and music program that strive for excellence. Students go through a comprehensive curriculum aside from a program for the gifted and talented being offered to freshmen and sophomores. It is proud that its student orchestra was the first student body to be officially invited to play in the Carnegie Hall.
Moanalua High School has also one of the largest populations of students who are military dependents within the United States Pacific Command. The rest of the student population actually belongs to the upper middle class.
To enter MoHS given the geographic requirement, applicants need to pass placement exams in Math and reading. Geographic exceptions are also considered for admission. Students should also abide by the health requirements as mandated by law.
Moanalua High School is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
